Ingredients

2 oz white port (or ruby/tawny)
4 oz tonic water
1 slice orange
1 sprig mint
  Ice

Steps

  1. Fill a glass with ice.

  2. Pour in port, top with tonic.

  3. Add orange slice and mint sprig. Stir gently.

Notes

  • The ratio is 1:2 port to tonic. Scale to your glass size.
  • White port is the classic choice — light and crisp. Ruby and young tawny work too for a sweeter, richer version.
  • Don’t use aged or vintage port — those are for sipping neat.
  • A lower-alcohol alternative to gin and tonic with more complexity.
  • Fever Tree or similar botanical tonic works best.
